What is Spanish coaching for seniors?
At Speak Better Spanish, Spanish for seniors means live, one-to-one coaching on Zoom for adults in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond. You practice real conversations with a bilingual coach at your own pace, ask questions in English whenever you need to, and get a recording and notes after every session. It starts with a free Roadmap Session, also on Zoom.
Feeling behind? You’re in good company
Many of our students are in their 50s, 60s and 70s. A lot of them arrive with the same worries:
- “I’m too old to learn a new language.”
- “I feel behind everyone else.”
- “I studied Spanish years ago and it never stuck.”
- “I’ve used apps for months and still can’t hold a conversation.”
- “I’m not good with computers.”
You don’t need to catch up to anyone. Your coach starts from what you know today and builds from there.
Our own records point the same way. When we coded 113 one-to-one sessions with 16 adult learners, conversation confidence came up for 11 of the 16 students. The subjunctive, which fills so many textbooks, came up for only 5.

The SBS Fluency Ecosystem
Real Spanish is not one voice. Students practice with different native speakers, personalities and conversational rhythms, so a new voice does not throw them in real life. Each coach strengthens a different part of real-world fluency. Explore the SBS Method →
In a student’s own words
I’m in my 60s, and have always wanted to learn Spanish. I took classes in high school, and later in adult school, but never felt that I was making much progress.I discovered Hannah, and decided to try some lessons. These one on one sessions are great! I can ask questions as they arise, get clarification, and I’m finally getting a handle on really learning to speak Spanish! Hannah is great to work with, patient, and these lessons are great value.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to learn conversational Spanish?
It depends on where you start and how much you practice. Cambridge English publishes guided learning hours of roughly 180 to 200 hours to reach A2 and 350 to 400 hours to reach B1. That is why our coaches put so much weight on what you do between sessions.
What’s the hardest part of learning Spanish?
For our students, it usually isn’t grammar. In 113 coded one-to-one sessions with 16 adult learners, regional Mexican usage came up for 15 of the 16 students, and conversation confidence came up for 11.
I studied Spanish years ago and forgot most of it. Can I still start?
Yes. Many students come back after high school or college Spanish, or after months on an app. Your coach starts from what you remember today and builds from there.
I’m not good with technology. Can I still do this?
Yes. Sessions are on Zoom, and our getting started on Zoom guide walks you through it. Your free Roadmap Session is on Zoom too, so you can try it before you decide anything.
Can I ask questions in English?
Yes. The whole team is bilingual, so you can ask in English whenever something is unclear. You also get a recording and notes after every session to review at home.
