You do not need to be good with technology to learn Spanish with us. You do need to be comfortable with three things: opening an email, clicking a link and joining a Zoom call. We help with everything else.
This page covers the problems our students actually run into, and the quick fix for each one.
What you need
- A computer, tablet or phone with internet. A computer or tablet is easier to see.
- Headphones or earbuds. They make the biggest difference to how well you hear your coach.
- A quiet spot close to your wifi.
- On a tablet or phone, the free Zoom app. You download it once. On a computer, Zoom opens from the link.
Before your first session
- Book your time. If you bought a package, use the blue Schedule link in your package email. That way you do not have to type a code.
- Find your confirmation email. It has your session time and the Zoom link. If you do not see it, look in your Junk or Spam folder and mark it “not spam” so the next one arrives.
- Save that email. Star it or bookmark the link, so you are not searching for it at session time. Every email from Hannah also has the Zoom link and the scheduling link at the bottom.
- Check the time. Your confirmation shows the time where you are. Mexico does not change its clocks, so when US clocks change in March and November, take a second look at your session time.
When it is time to join
- Click the Zoom link a minute or two early.
- If Zoom says “waiting for the host,” stay on. Your coach will let you in.
- If the link will not open, copy it and paste it into your web browser.
If something goes wrong
- You cannot find the link. Reply to any email from us and ask. We will send it again. Plenty of students ask, so do not feel bad about it.
- The sound is bad or the video freezes. Put on headphones, move closer to your wifi, or leave the call and join again.
- Your computer will not cooperate. Join from your phone with the same link.
- You booked the wrong coach or time. Email us and we will fix it for you.
- Your internet or power goes out. Email hannah@speakbetterspanish.com as soon as you can.
Your coach can help you in English at any point. The whole team is bilingual.
After each session
You get the recording and your notes after every session, so nothing is lost if the call drops or you miss a word. If a recording will not open, try a different web browser or ask us to send the link again.
