Meet Our New Professors: Welcoming Jacky and Michael

At Speak Better Spanish, we are always committed to providing our students with the best learning experience possible. Today, we want to remind you of something very exciting: We’ve recently welcomed two new teachers to our team! Whether you’re a beginner looking to start your language journey or an advanced learner seeking to fine-tune your skills, our new professors, Jacky and Michael, bring a wealth of experience and a personal touch that will help you on your way.

TEACHER JACKY

acky was born in Mexico and currently resides in the vibrant city of Monterrey. As a native speaker of both Spanish and English, she has six years of experience teaching in both languages. One of Jacky’s strongest passions is sharing Mexican culture with her students, making her classes an exciting blend of language learning and cultural immersion. If you’ve ever wanted to dive deep into the rich traditions, idioms, and customs that make Mexican Spanish so unique, Jacky is the perfect guide.

On a personal note, Jacky is one of my closest friends, and we bonded over our shared love for hiking. This mutual interest has taken us on many adventures together, exploring the natural beauty of Mexico. One of her favorite hiking spots in Monterrey is the majestic Cerro de las Mitras. She also loves water adventures, particularly those involving rivers, which is why San Luis Potosí stands out as her favorite Mexican state. The combination of breathtaking nature and traditional cuisine from the region makes it her go-to spot for relaxation and exploration.

TEACHER MICHAEL

Michael, another new addition to our team, has a diverse teaching background. He started his teaching career in Chile five years ago and quickly fell in love with the process of helping others master a new language. Michael holds a BA in English and a CELTA certification for teaching ESL, giving him a strong foundation in language education. He currently lives in San Antonio, Texas, but his heart has traveled across borders and continents.

His extensive travels throughout the Americas and parts of Europe have given him a unique perspective on language and culture. Michael has spent significant time in Puerto Rico, Chile, Colombia, and especially Mexico, where he developed a deep appreciation for the language’s nuances and regional differences. In addition to teaching, Michael enjoys reading, listening to music, and hiking. He also has a love for mezcal, which he associates with one of his favorite Mexican states, Oaxaca—a region known for its vibrant cultural scene and culinary delights.
